It is no exaggeration to say that OnView saved my property. I had a brand-new construction property that was 20% leased when COVID arrived in earnest. The largely empty building was a magnet for crime and vandalism. I hired an in-person security guard company, but the guard service created more problems than it solved. The guard often did not show or showed late. When they did show, they sometimes were under the influence themselves. They were unable to secure a large property – when they were at one end of the property, the criminal would infiltrate at the other end.

My insurance broker recommended that I speak with OnView Integrated Solutions. The OnView representative quickly assessed my situation by collaborating with me. As an experienced developer and general contractor, I thought I understood security, but the reality is I did not. OnView quickly upgraded my existing cameras. They replaced, repositioned, and added cameras as needed. They also added lights and loudspeakers to create a security system. The system stays unobtrusively in the background as needed (unlike a security guard) but when needed OnView can act immediately. Their unique Artificial Intelligence filter screens out the vast majority of false alarms and therefore enables effective monitoring.

Sometimes a quick polite reminder via the loudspeaker is all that is necessary (e.g., This is a no parking area – please contact property management if you need assistance.) Sometimes a call to the onsite management staff is warranted (You cannot block that fire access.). Sometimes dispatching police on an urgent basis is necessary for any violent crime or significant damage to property in progress. Frankly, I have found that police respond more quickly to OnView (a “trusted third party”) than they do to me. Finally, there are a wide range of circumstances that need in person attention which are not urgent enough to command a police response, but which onsite management may not have the bandwidth, training, or desire to handle themselves. Think of a homeless individual passed out in front of the entrance to the building, a mentally disturbed person who is not violent but who is trespassing, or a group of loitering teens who refuse to leave. For these types of situations, OnView can dispatch a security guard on an urgent basis. Finally, the “layered defense” system just described is only ~one third of the cost of an in-person security guard for 8 hours per day.

Depending on your site/property needs – you can either benefit from high visibility patrolling or remote monitoring with capabilities to set/playback/live monitor from your own device in addition to the remote monitoring center who is available 24/7. Having the freedom to create your own schedule, security route and the combination of both services allow you to keep the property better protected with a stronger perimeter.
